Los Suenos Fishing Report August 31st

Gooooooooooooood fishing Costa Rica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well it’s time to close out the month of August… Let’s head down to the Los Suenos Marina home of some of the best world class Sportfishing in Costa Rica and on the planet and touch base with Captain Walton Smith of our boat Sunny One.
General Conditions of the end of August:
Weather: Partially clouded with rains in the afternoon.
Sea Conditions: Moderate.
Water Temperature: 80 degrees.
Distance to Fish: 25-30 miles.

8-27 We find the Huner Still group aboard Sunny One and return all smiles and tired arms having hooked up 5 Sailfish and 15 Yellow Fin Tuna
8-28 Hunter had such a great day he steams out again, and is not disappointed docking with 6 Sailfish released and 1 Yellow fin plus 1 dinner Dorado.
8-29 finds Mr. Frank Goldstein angling on Sunny One, he hooks up 4 Sailfish early and returns satisfied………

Let’s see how our friends did:

8-24 Spanish Fly 8 Sailfish Released. The Bite released 2 Marlin.

8-25 Spanish Fly 1 Sailfish and 5 Tuna

8-27 Spanish Fly 9 Sailfish and 10 Tuna.
Dragin Fly 2 Sailfish and 13 Tuna.

8-28 Spanish Fly 1 Marlin (350 pounds), 1 Sail plus a bonus of 30 Tuna. Yes 30. The Bite caught 15 Tuna and 2 released 2 Sailfish.
Dragin Fly released 8 Sailfish.

8-29 Spanish Fly cough 9 tuna.

In Five days this boats caught 100 Yellow Fin Tuna.

Gooooooooooooood fishing Costa Rica…….. Well down here once again at the amazing Los Sueños Marina, Let’s see what Captain Walton and Sunny One have been bringing up from the Briny deep….Looks like Cappy traded his Marlin Magnet, and put out the Tuna Tuner… check it out.

6-8-10 Today we find Karen Arnold on board Sunny One and hit the docks in the afternoon after a fine day hooking up 6 Yellow Fin Tuna.

6-9-10 Joining Sunny and crew is Frank ONeill returns after releasing 3 sailfish and 2 Dinner Dorado..

6-16-10 On board with us today we find David Ramson he could upon up a Starkissed franchaise after hooking up 10 awesome Yellow Fin Tuna and 1 Dorado.

Costa Rica Real Estate Market Overview

As was the case for most Real Estate markets last year, Costa Rica saw a decline in property values in 2009. Leading up to that time Costa Rica had emerged as one of the hottest new markets for tourism and second home buyers. The combination of a vacation paradise, friendly locals and rising property values lured buyers and kept both pre-sale and re-sale markets strong. Sensing the opportunity, local developers moved forward with new projects. When the world’s economic situation worsened and cash flow tightened, speculation slowed along with home sales. Less demand softened the market and the heightened inventory forced prices down as much as 25-30% in some areas.

Due to the fact that this was not a big market to begin with, the absorption of product and recovery of pricing seems to be stabilizing quickly. Another factor that has helped the market rebound was the limited number of mortgages that were placed on Costa Rica properties. Costa Rican banks were normally more conservative and never really adopted the aggressive terms and tactics seen in many of the world’s lending institutions. Therefore foreclosures and bank inventories have not had much of a role in this Real Estate market. As a matter of fact the Costa Rica banks and local economy have fared much better than the US during this crisis. All these factors have played a role in limiting the down side and prompting the recovery of prices.

As we look regionally within the country, the Central Pacific Coast will have a huge boost this spring with the opening of the new highway linking the airport and capital city of San Jose to the Pacific Coast. This highly anticipated project has been 20 years in the offering and will cut drive time from the airport and downtown San Jose by more than half (55 minutes). The eminent opening has prompted a flurry of Costa Rican buyers to acquire beach homes at attractive rolled back prices and make this coastal paradise a regular part of their lifestyle.

Looking specifically at the Los Sueños Real Estate market, it is clear that we are fortunate to be a part of the finest Resort Development in the country. The current market in Los Sueños Resort proves that values based on superior location, abundant amenities and quality infrastructure will stand the test of time. It seems as though there is less turnover and more of a commitment with Los Sueños buyers to own property with long term intentions. However we have seen some distressed sellers who have been forced to sell at under market prices due to their financial setbacks in the U.S.

5-11 Karen Burks joins sunny today and docks after releasing 1 Marlin

5-12 Today with Jim Emery on board they score 1 Sailfish and 2 dinner Dorado

5-14 David Bryce is our angler today and docks after hooking up 2 Dorado and releasing 2 Sails

5-15 David joins us for another day and docks after releasing 2 Sails and 1 Marlin nice!!!!!!!!!!

5-18 Gabriela Baudrit a local Costa Rican (Tica) sets out and returns after a great day releasing 3 Sails and 2 Marlin…..

5-20 Ron Pearson tries out his angeling skills on Sunny One today and steams in after hooking up 4 nice Grouper…

5-21 Skip Jamison is aboard Sunny today and is not disappointed hooking and releasing 2 Marlin

5-23 Mr. Skip comes aboard again and slams it another day releasing 2 Sails and 1 Marlin.

5-25 Chris Criner joins Sunny One and docks on a fine afternoon after hooking up and releasing 3 Sailfish and 1Marlin…..

Goooooooood fishing Costa Rica!!!!!!!!!! Well back down at the world famous Los Sueños Marina, Captain Walton fills us in on the latest goings on with Sunny One……….

4-29 Mr. Ellis Ramsay joins Sunny One today and steams back in after releasing 3 Sailfish

4-30 Today Tom Dahl is aboard Sunny and has a nice day docking after boarding 4 fine Cubera Snappers.

5-1 Aboard once more is Ellis Ramsay and docks later in the afternoon after releasing 6 Sails and 1 Marlin…

Well that will wrap it up for now… Sunny Ones been running hard and steady for the last several months.. so shes in dry dock for a few days getting some belly paint and general sprucing up.. She will be back out real soon………. so until then keep posted on our Web for great deals on Condos and luxury Villas….

Stay in Costa Rica´s big project is to help children; during years we have been helping different groups to make a real Christmas party for children around the country. Now we know that a good education is the ticket to a secure future, which is why we have decided to help schools around Los Sueños Resort, based on the characteristics of the community, culture and the problems that affect them. Community involvement is part of our culture and everyone at Stay in Costa Rica is part of this new challenge; to raise money for charity.

We have beautiful places around, and we send customer to explore the region in different tours that we offer, reason why we want to make sure that every tourist area that has a small forgotten school will be favored by this initiative.
The first chosen is Escuela Jose Salazar Zuñiga, a small school located in Bijagual de Turrubares, Stay in Costa Rica´s donations of a photocopier, scanner, fax and printer, a CD Player and a DVD player is part of a big project that will help thousands of kids to receive a better education.
We are now encouraging people to help donate as everyone usually has the tendency of wanting to contribute, they just do not know as to where to start from. We are sure we will get a tremendous response in everything that we undertake with a good heart. We are honored to have the opportunity to contribute in helping the world become a better place.

Gooooooooooooood fishing Costa Rica!!!!!

Heading down to the World Class Los Sueños Marina, we’re starting to see a little rain, but not to bad… Lets check in and see how Captain Walton on Sunny One are doing and away we go………

4-23 Our buddy Dan Ross returns and steams in later after hooking up 2 Dinner Dorados.

4-26 Today we find Lisle Head joining Sunny One and docks in the afternoon after releasing 3 Sailfish and 1 fine Yellowfin Tuna.

4-27 Up next Miles McDaniel boards Sunny and has a fine day hooking and releasing 5 Sailfish.

4-28 Angeling today we have Mr. Tom Dahl who returns with a definite popeye arm after a great day releasing an impressive 18 Sails Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Costa Rica Infant Mortality Rate Down In 2009, Lowest In 59 Years

The study reveals that ten infants less died in 2009 over 2008, giving Costa Rica the lowest infant mortality rate in the last 59 years.

Figures from the Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos (INEC) – census and statistics board - reveal that in 2009 there were 75.000 live births and only 663 deaths.

The reduction is being attributed to the purchase and use of special equipment in prenatal care, in addition to better trained medical personnel, especially in the care of premature babies.

The ministra de Salud, María Luisa Ávila, highlighted the positive impact of universal health care for pregnant women with good prenatal care.

Another encouraging factor is that 97 percent of births in the country now take place in hospitals. This allows for better attention of the mother and the newborn.

The ministra said that as part of the program they have been educating pregnant women to get more prenatal care, controlling pregnancies and promoting breast feeding and the immediate contact between mother and newborn.

The vice-ministra de Salud, Ana Morice, emphasized that there was also a reduction of deaths from communicable diseases like respiratory infections, diarrhea and meningitis.

Morice said that the reduction was due to vaccinations.

The infant mortality rate largely reflects the living conditions of the population and its stability is subject to the variability of various social factors.

4-14 Today Bruce Wilson boards Sunny One and docks with 6 Snappers…….

4-15 Finds Mr. Micheal Landman angeling today and returns after releasing 1 fighting Sailfish.

4-17 Rich Resinbeck joins the crew of Sunny One and docks after hooking up and releasing 1 Sail.

4-19 Finds owners of the beautifull Villa Oasis aboard and has a great day returning after releasing 1 Sailfish, 1 dinner Dorado and 1 Wahoo………

4-20 The Oasis gang joins us again today and docks after releasing 3 Sails and 1 fine Dorado….

Heading down to the amazing Los Sueños Marina on this fine April day,we find Sunny One’s Captain Walton ready to steam out, but first we get a report for the first week of April…

4-3 Finds Mr. Lance Hazelton on board Sunny and check this out returns after releasing 20 Sails wow……….

4-6 Today Dan Ross returns one of our regulars and docks after releasing 10 Sails.

4-7 Our angler today is Karl Sturge and he has a fine day aboard Sunny releasing 7 Sails.

4-8 Mr. Ron Pearson steams out and docks in the afternoon after hooking and releasing 2 Sails

4-9 Lance Hazelton joins Sunny One again today and hits the Jackpot!!!!!!!!!! Steamin back in after an incredible day with 6 Sails 2 Marlin 1 Dinner Dorado and 4 count em 4 Yellow Fin Tuna What a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
